Free 4 Day Workshop - Learning Hungry and Full...
Until I went raw, I do not believe I ever knew what hunger pangs were. Nor did I understand full. It was as if the connection between my stomach and my brain were severed or maybe they those synapses atrophied when I was a child from lack of use. Whatever it was, over the years I have learned how common this is in the obese. The words are used often. Hungry, starving, ravenous, but when I push further many think hard and say, well no I didn't feel anything in my stomach, I just knew I had to eat...that my friends is appetite or just a learned behavior that you have to eat every few hours. The flip side of that is full. Many obese eat to the point of actual physical pain.
So from the 9th of Sept through the 12th, I am offering a FREE workshop for anyone wanting to explore their own hungry/full body brain connection and do some eating experiments (whole healthy foods of course that you buy at the grocery store and enjoy) to see if they can't reconnect and learn how to fully understand hunger from appetite and full rather than stuffed.
You have to use the typical application to be part of this program and we will be doing it over at the ObeseMe forum. It is open to anyone who is willing to experiment.

DC78 Hits 50lbs Gone...
DC78 is one of my private clients. When she sent in her photos of this first major milestone, she said she was disappointed that she didn't see a big enough improvement. I think she is wrong, especially when you look at her back view.
This is not that uncommon a complaint when people start losing weight. I felt the same way. I couldn't tell the difference for quite a while and it was disheartening, but what we lose site of is how much weight 50 lbs really is.
Go to the local grocery store and pick up a 50 lb bag of dog food and lug that around until you are ready to go. All of a sudden 50 lbs is a lot. Or pack up your back pack with 50 pounds and wear it for a day as you do your daily chores. All of a sudden it dawns on you the impact that having this much weight gone off your body, regardless of the weight you started at, must mean to your internal organs, your bones, your posture, and even if you can't see it in your own photos to your looks.
I am very proud of her. Not just for losing the weight, but for the way she has done this program. It hasn't always been easy, and she has been upping her exercise for faster weight loss while still eating so she doesn't feel like she is in food prison. That of course does not mean that she isn't frustrated at times. I so get this. When you are as motivated as she is, when you stick to your program as well as she does, you want that fat suit gone now, today, not six months or a year from now. Unfortunately it does not work that way, that is why it is so important to find a diet and exercise program you can do long term.
I don't see her slowing down any in the next few months. Expect to see a lot less of her as we move toward the holidays!

Ri leaves private coaching...
My first love is helping the obese. When Ri first contacted me she told me that she had just lost 100 pounds on her own but was having a hard time not bouncing around in a 20 pound range. She had just come back from a trip to Vegas where she indulged in those darn buffet lines! I didn't really know what I could do for a woman who had her act so together, but she was insistent that she need some fat brain adjustment and some accountability. Our goal together was to get her to lose the 20 pounds she had gained after losing her weight last November and for her to take full charge of her diet and weight.
I'm going to miss her, but we achieved those goals. She has a busy life with lots of weekend excursions she stayed in maintenance mode for, but overall she never really bounced more than a pound. It was a great time, I am very happy for how much she has embraced her new life, but as with all my private clients I will be miss her.

After losing 100 lbs in a year, I found myself slowly moving backwards. I was scared. I didn't want to move backwards. But, little by little after each vacation or conference, I gained another few pounds. While surfing the net, I stumbled on Carlene. Her interest was working with folks who wanted/needed to lose 75 lbs.
I wrote to Carlene asking if she would consider someone who wanted to lose 20 lbs. She introduced me to the fat brain. I understood that in my head I was still fat. And, she agreed to be my coach.
Understanding the fat brain was an incredibly significant step for me. I worked with Carlene for 14 weeks and lost 21 lbs total. I had some ups and downs. But, the knowledge I now have will stay with me and, I believe, protect me from ever going back to where I started. The tool...fitday.com is invaluable. I recommend using it daily. I can choose to increase my fat. But, I can make that choice today with a plan for tomorrow. Working with Carlene has been an incredible experience for me. I came to Carlene knowing how to lose weight. But, I also came to Carlene without fully understanding what was driving me. I did not have the tools to listen to me. I do now. For fourteen weeks I had my own cheer leader. She cheered me on with a little toughness, lots of love and great humor.
Carlene did not have to teach me to lose weight. But, she did have to introduce me to myself...the self I have been living with for 66 years. I made peace with my fat brain. And, I learned to laugh and turn away most of the time. Sometimes, I give the fat brain a wink and then move on. Thank you, Carlene. You have given me a new life. I have thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. And, I have grown.
