July 1, 2009 Elisa hits 6 Month Mark with 86 lbs gone...
If you go to her public page you can see her latest photos. Six months. How long is that? Well think back on January 1st, and the resolution you made regarding your weight. Elisa set a goal for 100 lbs gone in six months which would put her at 211 pounds. She didn't quite make it. She is a whole 14 pounds shy of her goal! Should we all be shaking our head saying, see, these types of goals are unrealistic? Think again. Where would you be weight wise if you had lost 86 pounds since the first of the year? How would those shorts and swimsuits look right now? Everyone who has lots of weight to lose thinks in terms of how overwhelming it is to tackle that type of weight loss, yet here again someone is proving to you that in no time at all you can change your life drastically and healthfully. January, wow, wasn't that just yesterday? The snow was starting to melt, the holidays were behind us, and the new year was full of promise. And for Elisa that promise was met. This past month she walked a 10K. When she first started at camp she had this idea of walking in a half marathon only to find that others who were going to walk with her backed out and then when she went to register was told walkers were not allowed. Many would have said, the heck with it. Elisa didn't and this spring did a 5K and now the 10K. This is a big accomplishment for someone who in January weighed 311 pounds. Oh I know, you're thinking sure, but to lose that much weight she must have starved herself and exercised for hours a day. Well, to be honest, Elisa had a couple of very slow unmotivated months where her walking waned and her diet was not perfect. Yet, she did not give up which is the key to success. She kept at it, and at it, and next month she should hit the 100 pound gone mark and then enter the 100's (Onederland) by September. Imagine going from 311 pounds to Onederland in 9 short months.
