We talked about the black hole of depression today.  The black hole that makes us not care and makes us eat.  Sometimes I have fallen into the hole by accident.  Other times I have defiantly jumped in.  No matter how many times I find myself into that hole, Carlene reaches in and pulls me out; thank God!  Today she said, "stay away from the black hole.....find happiness."  Today I decided that Carlene is right.  The black hole only brings misery and pain.  Today I stayed away from the hole.....I didn't even get near it.  Thank You Carlene!

Zoe Total Loss: 65.2 lbs

Zoe tried Raw Food Boot Camp a few times and did well on the diet, up until she didn't. This time we decided that she would work the book Fat Brain Lies, and do the two to three weeks of finding her maintenance calories before heading for weight loss. It was hard for her to hold off for the weight loss because she already knew what she could get if she did 100% simple low fat raw, but I held out and made her eat a part raw diet with between 1800 - 2000 calories a day to see what foods worked for her and what didn't and where she could cut those calories and still find satisfaction with her daily meals.

She will tell you that it was hard those first few weeks I didn't let her diet, but that the payoff was worh it. Now she eats about 50% of her diet as raw food and the rest as she likes. Not only is it easier to do, but she is completely satisfied. She is sticking to the less than 30% fat rule and eating between 1000-1200 calories a day and is achieving fast weight loss. When she first started she was walking once a day, but has now added a second walk each day and finds that she pushes more and more, just one more lap, one more piece of that path. The payoff for that is worth it too.

As an added bonus, Zoe's husband is walking with her and changed his own cooking tendancies toward lower fat. His health and weight are improving along side hers. Zoe honestly believes that this new way of eating for her is "brilliant" and that it is something she can do for the rest of her life.  

Zoe has passed the 50 lbs gone mark and has moved into Onederland. You can read some of her comments in the client review section of this website.

Mona is doing fantastic. She is working an individual program with lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but also some cooked food. She has moved her exercise up to an hour a day and is seeing great results. Attitude is key for success, and Mona has it down.

This has been a great 4 weeks!!  Loosing weight between Thanksgiving & Christmas is unheard of in my world.  I lost what I usually gain.  I'm sooooo happy!!  I even had a Martini at my Christmas Party and some steak on Christmas Eve.  I don't feel left out..... I don't feel bloated, head-achy, or moody due to poor food choices.  I'm taking care of myself & I feel wonderful.  Checking in with Carlene regularly has been instrumental to my success. Only someone who has walked in my shoes before me can understand and direct me in this journey.  I am so greatful to Carlene for her insight & guidance.  Thank you!!

Peggy came to this program as a fast food addict. She has used the two weeks of discovery to move away from all the fast food and find some healthy choices to replace them with. DC78 Total Loss: 60.8 lbs

DC78 is has moved into fast weight loss mode eating between 1000-1200 calories a day. She has dropped her sodium intake from 150-250% of the RDA down to around 92% and is feeling better.  She is walking for an hour each day now.  The biggest thig DC78 has in her favor is her attitude. She is looking hard at concepts like, want versus need and making choices based on what she needs more than what she wants. This is a huge step in successful weight loss.

While we doing discovery, DC78 was bummed because she wasn't getting the weight loss others were. Even when we moved her calories down it was still slow. Well as all women know there are times of the month where weight loss usually is a gain regardless of the diet. As soon as that passed she lost 4.8 pounds in just two days. That is how it goes, and patience is key especially for women.

One of the best things she has told me is that she has found she is no longer obsessing over food. Here is what she wrote about it:

I feel as though I have reached a turning point in my weight loss journey.  I realized as I went about my day, that I wasn't obsessing about food.  I used to think about what I was going to eat next, constantly.  I used to plot which fast food restaurant I would hit up on my way home.  Sometimes, I would go to more than one.  Now, it seems that when I'm thinking about food, it's only to plan out something healthy.  This is definitely not to say that I will never think about junk food again because I probably will but I can see myself transitioning away from old habits.

Rita lost 100 pounds on her own last year using a metabolic typing diet. She been going up and down 15-20 pounds and has come for support to help break the yo-yo effect and to beat some of her fat brain habits. We are starting with a goal to get her down 20 pounds while working on some of her left over problem areas. I will say after talking with Rita that she has accomplished a lot this past year with all the changes she has made in her relationship with food. Our program together is basically to clean up the few things that are left that hang her up.

I am not a medical, mental health or fitness professional, just a woman who found a way out of obesity and now shares that knowledge and guidance with others. Please speak with your physician before starting this or any other weight loss program.
