It takes an all-or-nothing personality type like myself, Stacy, Frecs and the others who lost over 100 pounds with me. Others struggled. They wanted to be raw, they wanted fast weight loss, but they felt too deprived and could not, or rather did not, want to continue. Yet, they kept coming back and trying. They liked the accountability and the support I offered, but they could not do the diet long-term. I understood this. Through my years of coaching, I came to understand the complexities of obesity, the emotional barriers, the fat eating habits, and the fear associated with both success and failure when it came to diets. I also learned the hard truth, that losing the weight is not enough. You have to change your relationship to food, and to life in order to make your success permanent. After continual nagging from others, I finally wrote my first workbook on how to start Preparing for Weight Loss. People were surprised that here I was the fast weight loss guru and I wrote a book for obese men and women to ease into weight loss and spend time examining their true motives and desires before embarking on any diet. I did it because what I have learned most from all these obese clients I have worked with is that if you are not ready, if you live in denial of your obesity, if you do not feel that being healthy is worth some sacrifice and getting up and walking, then no matter what I try and do for you, you will fail. Outside of the raw food world, my support approach is to get you to find a diet you can sustain. Not something just for the weight loss, but forever. Once we discover that then we can figure out how and how much to shave it to design your perfect fast or steady weight loss program. I am passionate about obesity. I'll be honest and tell you that I tried to walk away from coaching, but I couldn't do it. Each time I hear a story of some woman or man in regards to how obesity is stealing their lives, I am compelled to help. I want you to succeed. I want you to have the life you deserve. Sometimes, actually more often than not, it seems I want it more than you. That works too because I never tire of dragging you toward your goal regardless of how loud you scream or how high you kick. If you are willing to stay close enough for me to grab your shirt collar I will take you to that goal line. Don't expect to be coddled or slowly transitioned over to the truth when it comes to your obesity. I am a very matter-of-fact type of person and lay it all on the line for you. I am not sympathetic to excuses, nor do I divert from the course we set without careful consideration. Just because you are having a bad day or even week, does not mean you can be absent from your program or that you can revert to old behaviors. That truth is: you are overweight or obese because you choose to be. My job, my passion, is to show you that you do have the ability within to choose otherwise. You and only you are your magic pill for success.
